Sometimes the best reference pics come when you're not even trying. After the photo shoot had ended, the model and I wandered into another part of my house to chill, and while relaxing, I took some more pics. The lighting was very weak, hence the straight ahead camera flash appearance of this portrait. I hate that light, but loved the pic, and knew I had to paint it. The model hasn't seen this painting yet, but I'm hoping that she'll like it enough to do another photo shoot, in bright colors, to contrast with her dark complexion (Are you reading this Geeky? That orange sundress of yours? Yummmm). I'll probably touch it up a bit in a few weeks, but I have to stop working on it for awhile to do some other projects. I hope you like it.
Daydream: pastel on 600 grit Uart sanded pastel paper. Approximately 13x17 inches (33x43 cm).
Thanks again. I'm well underway on another painting of this model - one with a different mood from this one - and schedule permitting, will post sometime in mid January. (I've been in the mood to refine figures for future pastels lately, so I've been doing more pencil and less pastel work than usual.) Love your pics.
your model is wonderful, beautiful body and very angelic face, I like, it's sexy, and you, you're a wonderful artist, my photos do not compare with your art, it's great, congratulations
Thanks. Her hair's a little wonky, but all in all I'm happy with it. I tried to push the realism a bit more than usual, match colors closely, etc., and as a result tried too hard to follow the reference pic's hair. I should've simplified the masses more than I did. Oh well, live and learn.
I put a second painting of the same model aside for awhile to work on some other projects, but I'm back to it now, and am kind of stoked, though it will be a challenge.
Talk to you later.
